Novi sits at one of the region's biggest freeway junctions — I-96, I-275, I-696 and M-5 all meet here — which puts most of Metro Detroit within reach. Twelve Oaks Mall, Twelve Mile Crossing at Fountain Walk and the Suburban Collection Showplace make it a regional destination for shopping and events.

Much of Novi's housing was built from the 1980s onward: subdivisions of colonials, condo and townhome communities, and newer construction. The city's north end reaches the Walled Lake shoreline at Lakeshore Park, and ITC Community Sports Park anchors recreation on the south side.
